HB Racing celebrates podium-result in Barcelona and third place in Blancpain GT Series championship

Great satisfaction at HB Racing: With the second position in class at the season finale in Barcelona, the team from Neumarkt (A) secured the third position in the 2017 overall results of the Blancpain GT Series AM-category. Bernard Delhez (B), Edward-Lewis Brauner (D) and Marc Rostan showed a strong team-performance in the three-hour race and climbed on the podium for the second time in this season.

Again and again short rain showers created difficult conditions at the Circuit de Catalunya. After the wet first part of the qualifying, the HB-Racing-Lamborghini covered the provisional pole-position of the AM-class but had to settle with the third starting position after the dry last part of the session.

In the race on Sunday the three drivers improved continuously: Marc Rostan took over the second position in class quickly after the start and also moved-up in the overall standings step by step. After 60 minutes, the Frenchman entered the pit-lane and  handed the car over to Bernard Delhez. The Belgian avoided any kind of mistake as well and defended the position successfully.

Around one hour before the end it was clear: The possible 18 points for the second position would be enough to climb up from fourth to third in the overall team-classification of the Blancpain GT Series AM category. Edward-Lewis Brauner bore the responsibility in the last hour of the race to bring the result safely home. After three hours and 89 laps it was done: The HB Racing Lamborghini Huracán GT3 crossed the finish line on position two in the AM-category, which is reserved for Gentleman-drivers. Also in the overall standings the three drivers could be happy with the 37th place among the 50 participants.

“The third position in the 2017 overall results of our category is a great result for our first year in the Blancpain GT Series,” team principal Dietmar Hirsch was happy. “Behind us is a season with ups and downs. With the two second places at the season opener in Monza and today at the finale we showed our potential. We also completed the 24 Hours of Spa successfully. Thanks a lot to my team, the drivers and our sponsors. Everyone contributed his part to our successful debut season.”
