Florian Spengler and Christopher Zanella did an amazing job. They got the first podium of the season in wet conditions on Sunday. From P17 to P3. It was an exciting race from beginning to the end which lead to the well-deserved podium for the Austrian Team HB Racing.
After the two formation laps and the first ten minutes, Zanella was already on P13. The race which was full of safety car phases stayed interesting until the end. Before the driver change start number six was already on position seven but from there they went straight to the third place. Under full concentration Florian Spengler defended his place and was finally able to secure the first podium for HB Racing in 2017. “Unbelievable! I was so relieved when the Safety Car came out again. Robert Renauer had tried to overtake me but I had the situation under control. It’s my fourth season in the ADAC GT Masters and I can finally celebrate my first podium”, says Florian Spengler excited.
The sister car unfortunately got a drive through penalty because of the driver change and lost their sixth position due to that reason. In the end Norbert Siedler and Marco Mapelli were on P17.
“It was a really turbulent race but Florian and Christopher didn’t make any mistakes. The strategy, the pit stop and the car were perfect and we could finally celebrate our first podium of the season. Zandvoort is definitely one of our favorite tracks”, explains Andreas Fuchs, HB Racing Team Boss, proud.
From August 4th until 6th the Austrian Team will be on the hunt for the next points! The next destination is the Nürburgring.
